The warm weather continues. The smoke around us has settled over the tops
of the mountains but hasn't come into the campground. For a couple days, we couldn't see the head
of the lake. Saturday, we got up early
in case the rangers needed help with parking boat trailers. There was no line waiting to launch so we were free for a
couple hours. We headed into Leavenworth
to find a farmer’s market and breakfast.
The Chiwakum fire looked really close with a giant smoke plume. There was no wind so the smoke had settled
into the Tumwater Canyon making the air quality pretty low.
Our friends, Rauni and Paavo
Sillanpaa, came on Monday to camp for 4 days.
We wandered down to the beach in the evening for another amazing sunset. Last night, the thunder and lightening
started around 9:30 PM. The rain poured for hours making rivers under the
camper’s tents. I heard cars leaving
around 3 AM and several more left later this morning.
More storms were predicted for today but didn't happen.
We have Wednesday and Thursday
off from cleaning chores. We drove into
Leavenworth for lunch and a walk about.
The town has suffered from bad press about the smoke and fires. Visitors have stayed away but today, the air
was clear after the storm. Most of the parking spots were filled.

Someone left their weapon at the campsite. This stick had a knife blade duck taped to the end. Yikes! |

These fishermen were lucky! Most we have talked to have been skunked. These are sockeye salmon. |

Amazes me that the flowers grow into perfect balls. |

| And they smelled good, too. |
