Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was cooler and windy so the camping was a less attractive way to spend time and not all the sites were taken.  Campers were happy to be able to have campfires and s'mores without sneaking around.  During the burn ban, some campers tried to hide their fire pit from the road by parking their car at an angle.  One woman, who was unloading a box of wood from her car, told Sonny that she was only burning paper (never mind the wood she had piled on top of the paper!!).  Saturday on my break, I went to the annual Chelan County Fire Department Garage Sale which always has a huge variety of stuff.  On Monday, the nicest day, campers were departing in a rush to beat the traffic.  Usually, on departure Sundays, campers stay till exactly 1 PM so it was unusual to see the campground vacant by 2 PM.

A kite boarder loved the wind and waves on the beach.

He had his wet suit on for sure.

I found this tiny Origami crane in one of the campsites.

Children's art or a woodland symbol?

Campfires are nice but 7 out of 30 sites left their fires burning.

Rain began to fall at the Garage Sale

These pants caught my eye as we were going to the store for coffee.

These campers took the time to wrap each rung of the
grill with tin foil to cook on.  We hadn't seen that
technique before. Of course, they left it for us to
peel off.

These are the remains of the earlier children's art work
stuffed into a sink hole a few days later.

Even though it's windy and cool, folks were on the beach and in the water.

We had a campfire, too.  I tried out the giant marshmallows
for s'mores.  When the marshmallow squished out over the
edges of the cracker onto my hands, I decided the small
ones work just a well.

A white parrot came to camp with his family.  He was very friendly.

Quite a wing span.

For several years, the 18 Ave NW Seattle families spend a weekend.  Many
of the children attend or are graduates of Small Faces where I worked
for 30 years.  This is the last family to get packed up on Labor Day.
